Away We Go (2009)
Written by Dave Eggers and Vendela Vida. Starring John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph. From IMDB: A couple who is expecting their first child travel around the U.S. in order to find a perfect place to start their family.
I watched this movie on A.’s recommendation. I had no idea what it was about, but I knew if A. liked it then it must be good. I’ll have to say it’s now one of my favorite movies of the year. It’s basically a movie about a young couple expecting a baby, going around the U.S. looking for the perfect place to settle down, but what set it apart for me were two things: first, the genius script, both hilarious and unconventionally quaintly sweet; second, the great soundtrack. I love Alexi Murdoch for “Orange Sky” and I love any movie with a pole-dancing scene set to the Velvet Underground. And since I’m so nice, I uploaded it!
Download the soundtrack.

Post-dehydration ramblings

So the first sem of my (hopefully) last year in law school is over and I spent the first day of the break living between my bed and the bathroom, suffering from food poisoning. I don’t know where exactly I got it from (it could have been the dinner at Zaifu, or the quick food run at Next Door, or the copious amounts of beer in between), but it wasn’t fun at all. I ended up spending days at home and at least one in the clinic hooked up to an IV for dehydration.

Needless to say, it gave me a lot of time to stop and think. One of the things I thought about was resurrecting any one of my many internet accounts and online thingies, and I thought I’d just make do with something I already have. I’m more inclined to Tumblr, I don’t have that much to say to merit reviving my blog (besides, there’s still Livejournal for the more intensely personal stuff), and I’d much rather have a space where I can share all the things I love with other people.

And I do miss all the things all my online friends used to post. I admire all the beautiful photos you take, the songs you share, the way you talk about your passions, even the way you rant about the most mundane things. I want to read more of that stuff, without having to see it on a sucky Facebook newsfeed or something like that.

Anyway, in true teenage-blogging form, I’m ending this post with a goodbye. See you all later, I’m going to ponder my life some more from the comforts of my bed.
